About the Journal
American Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (AJGH) publishes papers reporting original clinical and scientific research which are of a high standard and which contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology.
The journal publishes five types of manuscript: reviews, original papers, short papers, case reports and letters to the Editor.
Submitted articles undergo a preliminary review by the editor. Some articles may be returned to authors without further consideration. Those being considered for publication will undergo further assessment and peer-review by the editors and those invited to do so from a reviewer pool. Peer-review is single blind.
The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to:
⇒ Diseases involving the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and rectum, and the pancreas accessory organ of digestion)
⇒ Diseases involving the liver (i.e. autoimmune diseases, viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver diseases, metabolic diseases)

⇒ Epidemiology of gastrointestinal diseases
⇒ Diagnosis and treatment

⇒ Disease biomarkers
⇒ Drug discovery, efficacy, toxicity, and personalized medicine

⇒ Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
